The beginning of Virtù

Virtù is a charming retreat dedicated to welcoming travelers in the vibrant heart of Genoa’s historic center.

Located in Vico delle Virtù, a very typical and characteristic “caruggio” in the old city of Genova, Virtù offers recently renovated apartments – each with a private terrace or balcony.

Each of the three apartments was designed as a retreat – with modern comforts — fully equipped kitchen, A/C, washing machine, and smart TV — And a curated and sylish atmosphere – welcoming and warm.

Virtù’s strategic location in the heart of Genoa’s old city, allows guests to experience the “vicoli” of Genoa up close: from picturesque alleys and unique boutiques to lively restaurants, bars, and world-class museums — all just steps away.

Virtù is part of Europe’s largest medieval center: an open-air museum rich in history – sights, colors and sounds, and a meeting of cultures that can only be found in a traditional port city.

A Glimpse into the History of Vico delle Virtù

In 1466, the Republic of Genoa officially established the Office of the Virtues — a civic authority made up of respected citizens tasked with overseeing public morals, civic behavior, and the city’s sense of decorum.

In 1482, the office was renewed with the involvement of prominent Genoese families such as the Fieschi, Sauli, Spinola, and Giovo. Their names now live on in our apartments, as a tribute to the memory of this historic place.

Vico delle Virtù, with its evocative name, still recalls that past. Today, it is a vibrant alley in Genoa’s historic center — where every narrow street tells stories of centuries gone by. Virtù offers modern comforts, but also the chance to experience an intimate connection to a neighborhood where history and everyday life have always been intertwined.
